I light and shoot drama, drama-documentary and narrative work.
My first feature as Director of Photography, Dark Nature, won the HDFest Deffie for Best Cinematography in 2009, and my work has screened at festivals in Edinburgh, London and New York.
Since then I've shot drama and drama-documentary for broadcast, including Shiver Me Timbers, The Day Hitler Died and the Scottish BAFTA-nominated The Last Duel for the BBC's Timewatch strand. I like to get involved early, working closely with the director in pre-production to shape the look and mood, and I enjoy following a film through to the grade. My aim is always images that are beautiful, serve the story and cut together seamlessly. I'm keen to shoot more feature films, and I'd equally welcome the chance to help build the look of a returning drama series.
I started out making films in the back garden on Super 8 when I was six, and I'm still a technical geek at heart, always happy to talk lenses, frame rates and LUTs, and still shooting medium format and old video formats for fun.
